MobCraft Beer and Dee Tacko will be opening a brewpub and taco restaurant in the former Liberati Brewery at 2403 Champa Street in the Curtis Park area of Denver, Colorado. MobCraft is an award-winning small, independent Wisconsin-based craft brewery with ties to Colorado. Dee Tacko opened in Pueblo, Colorado, in April of 2020.

MobCraft’s founder, Henry Schwartz, along with his cousin, Justin Weber, of Highlands Ranch, is partnering with Juan Herrera and Cesar Munoz, The Taco Brothers to bring Dee Tacko’s Mexican cuisine and MobCraft’s crowdsource beer approach to Denver. In true crowdsourcing fashion, Mobcraft is raising funds from equity crowdfunding on Wefunder, giving patrons a chance to invest in the future of the company.

Schwartz was born and raised in Lakewood, Colorado.  Schwartz says, “My roots are in Denver, and I’ve missed Colorado ever since I moved in 2003.  I am so excited for the opportunity to partner with Juan and Ceasar to bring MobCraft beer to the Denver area and to create a unique, highbred space in the community.”  Weber says he is thrilled that the culmination of years of conversations is finally happening.

Weber first met Herrera while eating lunch at Dee Tacko’s Pueblo location, and when Weber looked at the menu, he saw an opportunity.  With playful menu names such as Fungus Amongus(a taco featuring grilled portobellos), Weber knew Dee Tacko would be a natural fit to partner with the Milwaukee based brewer of Ahopalypse Hazy IPA, known for punny beer names and brewing avant garde craft beer using non-traditional ingredients.  Herrera says, We are excited to bring our fun approach to the food and beverage industry together with MobCraft to offer a unique dining experience like none other on the Front Range, in the state of Colorado or in the U.S.”

Schwartz has been working closely with Alex Liberati of Liberati Brewing to begin operations at the existing brewery.  MobCraft plans to brew new recipes unique to the Denver location including crowdsourced batches, collaborations, and taproom exclusives.  Crowdsourcing is core to MobCraft: throughout the year the crowd submits and votes on beer ideas, at the end of each vote, the winning beer is brewed.  The model used in Wisconsin will be used in Colorado, to allow for recipes unique to the Denver taproom.  In addition to pouring up crowdsourced winning brews, the bar will serve flagships such as Great American Beer Fest medal winners Bat$hit Crazy Coffee Brown Ale and Low pHunk Sour Ale. Mobcraft will also boast a mix of easy drinkers, barrel-aged stouts, different varieties of IPAs, and versatile offerings from the award-winning Wild & Sour program.

The taproom bar will have over 25 draft lines, plus offer a full bar including wine, liquor, hard seltzers, hard cider, and a house made, spiked agave beverage called Agave Fizz. A seasonal beergarita will be exclusively available at the Denver taproom. The beverage combines agua frescas from Dee Tacko and sour ale from MobCraft and is served with a shot of tequila. Herrera explains the variety on the menu saying, “We have it all: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto and organic. Combining forces with MobCraft Beer, we have found our true calling: comida excelente cerveza excelente!”

Renovations on the space will begin in September with hopes to be open by the end of 2021.  The taproom will feature two spaces: one for traditional sit-down dining and one with a more casual taproom vibe with high tops, lounge furniture and games. The interior will showcase murals painted by local artists and barrel furniture and fixtures built by local wood and craftworkers. The property features a 5,000 square foot patio with lounge and dining seating, bocce courts, fire pits, plus a parking lot with 30 spaces for customer parking.
